Duckweed monitoring

We can help you by providing an overview from space, mapping duckweed and floating vegetation of a complete region, to guide your work.

Duckweed are small plants floating on the surface. Because of their quick growth, they can cover a complete surface within days. Not only is such a homogeneous surface not a particularly nice view, the water below the floating weed is becoming completely dark, resulting in the disappearance of macrophytes and fish. Besides that, the weeds can cause a smelly nuisance. There are several methods to reduce the growth of duckweed, including nutrient reductions and removal. But the first step will always be locating the spots where duckweed starts growing. Usually, this is done by visual inspection, or as a result of complaints. Visual inspection, however, is very time consuming. We can help you by providing an overview from space, mapping duckweed and floating vegetation for a complete region, to guide your work.
