SENTIMERS: Preparations SENTINEL-3 for water quality
SENTIMERS: Preparations for the use of SENTINEL-3 for operational water quality monitoring of lakes and reservoirs
The aim of the SENTIMERS project was the development of a prototype infrastructure for archiving, preprocessing and calculation of continues series of images of the SENTINEL-3 satellite instrument, as well as the definition and development of prototypes of processing modules for atmospheric correction and water quality parameter calculations of SENTINEL-3 observations.
Water Insight and the NLR defined and developed a prototype end-to-end system for the production of reliable waterquality maps based on MERIS and SENTINEL-3 data, for use in- and outside of European inland and coastal waters. This system uses a generic infrastructure that is also applicable to other sensors and information types and which allows coupling with other specific processing modules e.g. for atmospheric correction.
This project has been carried out between January 2008 and July 2009.
